Dell KM117 Wireless Keyboard Mouse – My Experience

D

My laptop keypad was being very insolent recently. That is to say that it used to get hot and won’t work at times and mostly at times when most needed. So, I decided to buy a new mouse. I finally went for Dell KM117 Wireless Keyboard Mouse. And so far I am just glad that I bought it.

Let me also be very clear that this is not a sponsored article. I just bought it and thought about sharing how I feel about Dell KM117 wireless keyboard mouse.

Design and Appearance

I must tell you that the product you receive if you go for Dell KM117 wireless keyboard mouse, is a very stylish and sleek keyboard and mouse. It looks alluring and you’ll be proud to present it to your buddies.

The keyboard has a chiclet design which gives it a very elegant look. Also, the keys get a bit more space when compared to the traditional keyboard and hence result in better accuracy.

The mouse design is such that it perfectly fits your hand and is very comfortable to access. Though I did read that people with large hands find the design a bit small and may end up with an achy hand. So, do check out the dimensions and design before going for the mouse. It works perfectly for me!

Performance

You just have to connect the USB transmitter and that’s it. You are ready to use the keyboard and mouse.

The mouse and keyboard are perfectly synchronized and fast. You don’t find an identifiable lag between keypress and corresponding response on the screen. The same goes for the mouse too. The movement is immediately reflected on the screen.

Efficiency

The keyboard and mouse go to sleep when not in use for a while. This helps in saving battery. And there is no delay when we start using it again. You don’t have to wait or double press a key; it just starts working right away. However, many would prefer an On/Off switch in keyboard too as there is in mouse to further save the battery.

Battery

The mouse is powered with one AA-battery and the keyboard is powered with 2 AAA-batteries. These batteries generally last up to a year for normal usage as I’ve read. But, right now can’t say from my own experience. 😐

The batteries came with the product. So, I was able to use it right away without having to go hunting down the batteries first.

Other smart Features

The keyboard has direct keys for Mute, and Volume Up and Down. And it also has function keys for Play/Pause, Next, Previous and Sleep.

The Low Battery indicator warns you in advance about the exhausting batteries.

It is compatible with almost all the major operating systems.

There is a single USB transmitter for both keyboard and mouse and has a minimal size. They are not going to use much of your precious space.

Keyboard indicators

There are no indicators for CapsLock and NumLock keys. So that is going to be a Trial and Error journey for you every time. However, there is a Low Battery indicator. Thus, your keyboard and mouse will not stop working just out of the blue. You’ll be notified in advance about the depleting batteries.

Incredible Support

I had a bit of an issue with the left button of the mouse. So, I went to the Dell store and they exchanged it with a completely new one. I love this kind of support. You know that you don’t have to worry about being stuck with a malfunctioning piece, which is sheer luck and can happen to anyone.

So, here I end my saga of Dell KM117. I love this product and would definitely recommend it. It’s good value for money.
